Ditto to Dellman. Hybrid is the best vehicle options for right now. Just hope there are more cost efficient options.

Solar power is the way to go. Instead of getting more miles per gallon, the scientists should be working on how to not use any oil.

I agree that gasoline/diesel will be the dominate fuel for quite some time. it is about time that cars start getting significantly better fuel economy.

As long as they keep working on alternatives to gas. WE can not settle back and say will pay the high price oil ask, it will only get worse if we set back and do nothing..

We do need to continue to research alternative fuels and develop ways that the alternatives can be deployed. We don't however need to give completely up on what we are using now.

Well, there's trillions invested in the way things are now.
We'd need $200 oil before real changes.

But PHEVs can reduce the number of trips necessary to a few per year. Most of the commuting and in town travel can be done using electric power which costs much less per mile traveled. So instead of a barrel or two per car per month, you have less than a barrel per car per year. With 100 million cars on the road today, thats a 92 million barrel drop in demand (close to 80% of gasoline demand in the US and 17% of the crude oil demand in the US). Heck at that rate, we would be able to supply all of the gasoline demand with ethanol made right here.

"The United States and Countries around the world have the technology to use 0 gasoline and keep your money in your pocket by using alternative energy, but the big oil companies do not want you to know about this - There are U.S. automakers that are shipped around the world that are more fuel efficent than the one's that are sold here, do a little research and find out for yourself"

I hope not. Burning gas it's like burning money. Oil has much better use as chemical.

The core of it is that gas is the most economical right now and it also has the best built out infrastructure. Its cost advantage will likely shrink with time but it will probably take decades for it to not be cost competitive.

There is actually a lot of oil to last us for a long time, but it is always good to develop alternative energy and improve on efficiency.

#1 Ethanol is bad for cars and trucks. #2 The USA has more oil within our boarders than all of the middle east. #3 The enviormentalist are stoping us from drilling and holding our country back.
If we start using nuclear, wind and solar, it will HELP with the green house effect. Oil is going to be in our future for hundreds of years. Lets become independant of the world and stand on our own.

The auto industry needs to agree on a technology and pursue it together so that there's critical mass to support the subsequent building of infrastructure to support it. All this dabbling in this and that is futile and will never have the roll out potential.
