I haven't seen the new Trek movie. I think I will eventually, when it comes on TV, but, to me, it is a different animal. I didn't watch the first one at all until I found out that, at least, it's an alternate timeline. That, and part of the appeal of the original TV series was its optimism about the future. The new Trek is way too dark for my taste. The new title "Star Trek: Into Darkness" they already were there in the first version of this "reboot".
